After breakfast, set off for Tarangire National Park for an exciting full-day game drive. As one of Tanzania’s lesser-known parks, it retains an authentic safari atmosphere with its rolling hills and majestic baobab trees standing against the vast blue sky.

Tarangire boasts the largest elephant population in the world, with herds of up to 300 elephants gathering near the river to drink or bathe in the mud. In addition to elephants, the park is a haven for birdwatchers and hosts a variety of predators, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, and even tree-climbing pythons.

Spanning 2,600 km²—about the size of Luxembourg—Tarangire’s diverse landscape of savannah, seasonal swamps, and towering baobabs is home to Masai giraffes, buffaloes, hartebeests, elands, fringe-eared oryx, and the peculiar-looking long-necked gerenuk, along with over 550 bird species.

Renowned for its large elephant herds, Tarangire offers one of East Africa’s best opportunities to observe these magnificent creatures up close.

After an adventurous day in the park, continue to Marera Valley Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

In the early morning, depart from Arusha and drive toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, passing through the Great Rift Valley and lush crater forests before reaching the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater.

This collapsed volcano forms a unique ecosystem, supporting a vast array of wildlife and vegetation. The crater is home to Africa’s highest concentration of wildlife, including elephants, lions, buffaloes, hippos, and the rare black rhino. It is one of the best places to spot the Big Five and offers stunning panoramic views from the crater rim.

Descend over 600 meters into the crater, where a permanent water supply sustains diverse wildlife, including wildebeest, zebras, buffaloes, elands, warthogs, hippos, and large African elephants. The area also hosts a high density of predators, such as lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and elusive leopards.

A visit to Lake Magadi, a shallow alkaline lake, offers sights of flamingos, hippos, and various water birds.

After an exhilarating seven-hour game drive, transfer directly to the airport for your flight to Zanzibar, another destination, or home.
