1-Day Safari Zanzibar to Mikumi National Park

Zanzibar to Mikumi National Park tour adventure begins bright and early at 5:00 AM, with a convenient pick-up from your hotel (pick-up time may vary depending on your location). You’ll then be transferred to Abeid Amani Karume International Airport, where a private chartered flight awaits.

At 6:00 AM, soar above the stunning landscapes of Tanzania as you fly directly to Mikumi National Park, a journey of approximately one hour. Upon arrival, you’ll be warmly welcomed by professional safari guides who will lead you on an unforgettable full-day game drive.

Wildlife Encounters

As you traverse the park’s vast open plains, you’ll have the opportunity to spot some of East Africa’s most iconic wildlife.

Frequently seen animals include:

Giraffes, Hippos, Buffalos, Elephants, Zebras, Baboons, Wildebeests, Elands and other antelope species.

Please note: As with any wildlife safari, sightings of big cats like lions or leopards cannot be guaranteed, as these animals roam freely. But that’s part of the adventure—every safari is unique!

🍽️ Lunch Break

Midday, you’ll pause for a relaxing lunch at one of the park’s selected restaurants—giving you time to refresh and reflect on your journey so far.

🛫 Return to Zanzibar

After your game drive, typically between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM, you’ll return to the Mikumi airstrip for your flight back to Zanzibar. Upon arrival, your driver will be waiting to transfer you back to your hotel.

What to bring on safari

  • sturdy shoes (trekking shoes or solid sneakers are sufficient)
  • light shoes, flipflop/sandals to wear in camp
  • long trousers

  • scarf, hat, gloves and warm jumper (May to end of August and higher altitudes like Ngorongoro)
